Business Arising:
One Start Rule: Margaret informed the meeting that NSWSA is trying to instigate a one start rule for all carnivals, it is already used at NSWSA State, Country and Regional titles. NSWSA would like it introduced at all carnivals at District level and would like clubs to have a one start rule at their club nights. It is also to be used by Masters and school carnivals.

Restricted Age Series: Previously called the Shell Age Series. NSWSA have contacted FNCSA asking for information on when and where we are conducting this years heats. Heats are to be held on the weekend of the 2nd - 3rd March 2002, with the finals to be held on the 17th March 2002 at Auburn. It was suggested to hold the heats at the Alstonville pool on Sunday 3rd March commencing at 4pm. John Smits to see if pool was available. Costs would be $2.75 per event, Margaret to see if more information could be obtained regarding running of heats.

FNC Championship Carnivals: Alstonville have offered to take Championship No 2 Carnival, and this has been accepted. No reply from Casino regarding No 1, will try to contact Secretary again, one last time. Murwillumbah have indicated they would be more interested in hosting a Non Championship Carnival, but as Lower Clarence have accepted the second Non Championship, Murwillumbah will be pencilled in for next year. Mullumbimby have volunteered to be a backup if no reply from Casino.

Entry fees for mixed relays at Non Championship Carnival: No fee was ever discussed for the Mixed Relays, but a fee of $1 per event was adopted for the Non Championship Carnivals.

Moved Graham Lees - Seconded Graham Canning
‘For this season, the mixed relays at the FNC Non Championship Carnivals will not incur a cost.’ - Carried

Results on discs at FNC Carnivals: At present, results from all carnivals in FNC can be given to clubs as a hard copy and normally a fee is charged to provide the results. A suggestion came from Glenn Moriarty that as part of the running of a carnival that host clubs could provide results on disc, that host clubs could buy a packet of discs and sell them to the clubs. Most thought this a good idea. Every club would have to have the Meet Manager program.

Moved Glenn Moriarty - Seconded John Smits
That clubs hosting carnivals provide results on disc to participating clubs. - Carried

A letter from Andrew Hunter: Andrew wrote a letter to all clubs that Gail distributed to those present. He expressed his disappointment at the low number of entries from FNC Clubs, especially those clubs in the middle of our District. He was angered by the large numbers of members from these same clubs who were attending a meet at Southport on the same weekend. Andrew felt that clubs should support carnivals in their own District before carnivals outside of the area and that some coaches were not encouraging their swimmers to do this. In reply, some of the clubs felt that the program of the Twin Towns meet did not suit them, others pointed out the high number of carnivals now in our District and the costs involved and that choices had to be made as to which carnivals to attend. But the general feeling was that FNC clubs should support carnivals from our own District before attending carnivals from outside the area.

Moved Glenn Moriarty - Seconded John Smits
FNC Swimming Clubs should be encouraged to support FNC Meets before supporting out of District/out of State Meets - Carried

Coaches for Winter Development Squad: Maree Field made a suggestion that FNC Swimming send a letter to all clubs asking for expressions of interest for the coaching positions for next years squad. It was felt that if we started organising now, we may get more response. It was also felt that there needed to be more input from all coaches in our District and that all clubs should encourage and support the Winter Development Squad. Last year many clubs did not have any swimmers applying for positions in the squad, although they have swimmers who would have enjoyed and benefited from the squad. These clubs need to be more involved or to express their opinions on why they do not participate, if they have any concerns.

Meeting closed at 2.35pm

Next meeting is to be held at the Alstonville Bowling Club on Sunday 16th December 2001 commencing at 1pm
