Minutes of the Far North Coast Swimming Association Inc.
Annual General Meeting
held at the Ballina RSL Club
on Sunday 19th May 2002
Meeting opened at 10.15am
Present:

Timperley (Byron Bay), David McLean (Casino), Michelle Creighton
(Casino), Graham Lees (Lennox Head), Chris Mills (Lismore),
Narelle Anderton (Mullumbimby), John Riley (Twin Towns).
Observers: Cliff Harris (NSWSA), Walter Hitchel
(NSWSA), Lin Johnson (Alstonville), Stan Tilley.

Swimming Club Operational Manual:
Maree Field suspended normal proceedings and asked Cliff Harris
and Walter Hitchel from NSWSA to address the meeting on the new
Australian Swimming Club Operational Manual. Those clubs present
were able to receive their package. Clubs who were not present
will be sent their package, probably in October, after clubs have
paid their Affiliation fee to NSWSA. The club package comes in a
loose-leaf folder that will enable easy updates, which will be
sent to clubs free of charge as they happen. Any clubs requiring
more copies can request more from NSWSA at a cost to clubs.
At the end of the presentation, Wal and Cliff answered questions from the floor.
Many questions regarding insurance arose. Swimmers who do not apply for clearance to swim at interstate meets, may not be covered by insurance. Children who swim in 'baby pools' on club nights are also not covered by insurance, or parents who help on club nights unless they are members of NSWSA. Questions regarding the responsibilities of the pool lessee on club nights, with one lessee not being present on clubs nights presenting a potential problem.
Maree thanked Wal and Cliff for attending and for their presentation. The FNC AGM then continued.

The minutes from the previous Annual General Meeting were read.

President's Report:
Maree presented her report to the meeting, and
thanked State Councillor, ALEC Convenor, all coaches, the
Secretary and the Treasurer for their help and assistance
throughout the year.

Correspondence In:
Trish Barnes presented a list of all incoming
correspondence received.

Treasurer's Report:
Gail Hunter presented the Treasurer's Report
to the meeting. Balance brought forward was $13,218.82Cr, with
total credits of $13,331.42 and debits of $8,141.73 leaving a
balance of $18,742.51CR as at 30/04/02. With an outstanding
deposit of $870.00 and invoices for payment for $864.28 and
outstanding cheques for $334.00, leaving a book balance of $18,414.23.
Gail stated that the Treasurer's books could now be submitted to
the Auditors and wished the incoming Committee all the best.

As Bernie Thompson was unable to attend the
AGM there was no ALEC Convenor's Report presented.
Election of Office Bearers:
Maree Field asked Cliff Harris if he would
chair the meeting for the purpose of the election of the new
committee.

Clubs would be asked to fill the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. After three years in the positions, Trish and Gail declined to accept the positions.
Agenda Items
Affiliation and Capitation fee:
A proposal was received from Lismore club to reduce the
Capitation fee to FNCSA, which is currently $5 per swimmer.
Rationale was that FNCSA is accumulating funds and with the
increase in NSWSA capitation fee, it was felt that fees
should be reduced.

That the swimmer capitation fee to FNCSA be reduced from $5 to $3
per swimmer for the coming season. - Carried
Discussion took place regarding fees. Currently Affiliation fee to FNC Swimming is $70.00 per club.

That club Affiliation fee to FNC Swimming be left at $70.00 per
club. - Carried
Could all clubs please pay their Affiliation fee promptly. An information sheet is to be sent to all clubs to be returned with their Affiliation fee. (Included)
Dates for FNC Carnivals and venues:
Please note that FNC Championship and Non Championship
Carnivals are to be offered to clubs who are next in line on the
FNC Alphabetical roster system. Clubs who were next in line for
carnivals but declined to hold them last season will be asked to
host a FNC Carnival this season. These clubs are to verify their
acceptance at the next meeting.( Mid Richmond, Murwillumbah,
Tweed Heads, Twin Towns, Yamba.)
