| 17th November 2008 | Update on the future of Far
North Coast Swimming Association - The FNCSA meeting held on
Saturday 15th November was attended by Ian Harkness, CEO of SNSW. Ian
stated emphatically that the boundaries of the FNC Area would NOT
remain unchanged. He said that there were 2 possible options: 1. Far North Coast amalgamate with Mid North Coast to form a new North Coast Region which would stretch from just north of Newcastle to Tweed Heads. 2. After negotiations with Swimming Qld, some or all of the clubs in Far North Coast could affiliate with Swimming Qld instead of Swimming NSW. Our area would then become part of what is now Gold Coast Regional Swimming Association. All FNC clubs are urged to discuss these options and their ramifications and send their thoughts on preferences and potential problems to the FNC Secretary. A letter was distributed to clubs in attendance at the FNC Champs on Sunday. This can be found here. *

| 5th November 2008 | Next FNCSA Meeting. The
next FNCSA meeting will be held after the first day's competition of
the Far North Coast Championships, at Oasis Pools, Banora Point. The
venue will be Club Banora (next door to the pools) at approx 4pm on 15
November. It is important that as many members as possible who are
interested in the structure of Far North Coast Swimming should attend. Ian Harkness, the CEO of Swimming NSW will be present and holding a discussion on the future of our Area. There has been recent discussion regarding Far North Coast amalgamating with Mid North Coast, but Ian and Peter Lozan, President of SNSW, have also been in discussion with Swimming Australia and Swimming QLD regarding a Memorandum of Understanding, or an Across the Border agreement with SQLD. They also hope to have a representative from Swimming QLD in attendance at our meeting. Please support this meeting, as this is our chance to have a say on our future. Every FNC club is encouraged to have representatives in attendance. *

| 10th October 2008 | Presenters
and Assessors Courses. SNSW is planning to run these 2 courses
for interested club parents on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd November
at Alstonville Bowling Club. It is essential to have people qualified
in these areas in order to continue training qualified officials to run
our swimming carnivals. Anyone considering attending either course must send their name, phone number and email address to the FNC secretary, Jennie Riley, before the end of October. This is so that an information package can be sent to them by SNSW. Participants will also need to be registered members of SNSW. *

| 14th September 2008 | More Bronze to Jacqui Freney.
In the final of the 50m Freestyle S8 class tonight, Jacqui won her
third bronze medal of the Paralympic Games in Beijing. After giving the
rest of the field a big head start, she managed to swim her way back
into contention and claim third place behind Norway and USA. Three medals in three events at her first Paralympic Games is just a fantastic result. Congratulations Jacqui. *

| 12th September 2008 | Jacqui does it again!
Tonight Jacqui Freney won another bronze medal, this time in
the Womens 400m Freestyle - S8 class. The first 2 places were again
taken by the 2 girls who were first and second in the 100m Free final
on Monday. Jacqui's time of 4:57.21 was a big PB and considerably
faster than the previous Paralympic record of 5:07.88 from the Athens
games. Congratulations Jacqui and good luck for Sunday's race. *

| 9th September 2008 | Jacqueline Freney wins bronze
at the Paralympic Games! Last night Jacqui won the bronze medal in
Womens 100m Freestyle - S8 class, only narrowly missing out on the
silver by 0.08sec. What a great swim by the 16 year old from Lennox
Head who is a member of the Aqua Z Swim Club. Jacqui will also be competing in the 400m Freestyle and the 50m Freestyle later in the week - Friday and Sunday I believe. So keep an eye out for these events. The athletes competing at the Paralympic Games are absolutely inspirational and well worth watching. *
